Type Locality and Naming
Along the Kyzyltash section, South-Western Gissar. N.P. Kheraskov, 1934 (487, p.19). Stratotype, probably in the Kyzyltash section. Upper formation in the Takchiyan Gr. Included in the Kyzyltash Horizon (55; 115; 133; 167; 274; 362; 363; 383; 415; 445; 498).
Synonym: Kyzyltash Formation, Кызылтатская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Reddish-brown clays, sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites) with layers of bluish-gray sandstones. In Central Gissar, sandstones, gravelites with rare layers of siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness 50-130m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lies conformably on the Almurad Fm, with erosion on the Shirkent Fm
Upper contact
Conformably overlain by the Okuzbulak Gr.
Regional extent
South-Western, Southern, Central Gissar, Babatag ridge. Buhara-Karshinsky district borehole.

Fossils
Contains freshwater bivalve mollusks - Trigonioides kodairaiformis Mart., Limnocyrena gissarica Mart.; ostracods - Malzevia ex gr. pellucida (And.), M. malzi Andrv., spores and pollen.
